We hate… — Sam Altman (@sama) February 12, 2025 Sam Altman mentioned that after the release of GPT-4.5, the company’s next goal will be to release GPT-5 as a “system that integrates a lot of our technology, including o3.” This means that o3 will not be shipped as a standalone model. The company is aiming to unify GPT-series and o-series models. OpenAI seems to be taking this approach due to the fact that its offerings have already become too complex, and and the company wants to “return to magic unified intelligence.” He also added that ChatGPT’s free trier will receive unlimited chat access to GPT-5. However, free users will only have access to the standard intelligence setting, which is subject to abuse thresholds. As expected, Plus subscribers will get access to higher-level intelligence, and Pro subscribers will be able to run GPT-5 “at an even higher level of intelligence.” These upcoming models will include features like deep research, search, canvas, voice, and more.
